The present church was opened on March 23, 1912, attended the ceremony of the King of Spain, Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia. Built by the parish priest Don Ceferino Vahillo Felipe, plans and execution of the works were performed, respectively, by architects D. Lorenzo Capra and D. Alvarez Dimas Rodríguez Izquierdo.
The architectural style is Mudejar Gothic elements together. The surface area of ??the building is 756.84 meters square and the plant has a Latin cross. The windows emblazoned shields hold its donors, most notably the papal and five of the royal family on the altar.
In 1978, with Pastor Don Jesus Fernandez Higueras, and under the direction of architect Antonio Culebras Abalos, is a reconstruction of the temple and its adaptation to the new ministry of the parish, in the spirit of Vatican II. As Paul VI in 1976 catechesis, "our time needs to resume the reconstruction of the Church, psychological and pastoral, almost as if it started again, from scratch, so to speak, to regenerate through this human-divine order ' .
Because only when entering the parish church of the Virgen de la Paloma is received catechesis through the signs that are in its structure. The first thing we see is through the door that has completely changed the situation of the faithful inside the temple. Now form an assembly around the Eucharistic table and baptismal font, which facilitates its incorporation into liturgical celebrations, they in turn becoming a sign of communion and unity of the Church.
Near the door, as a first step to enter the Church, is the baptistery or baptismal pool. It has within it a cross, because the cross of Christ were saved, and an octagon at its outer edge, biblical figure of the fullness of the glorious eternity that comes through the cross and resurrection . It feeds this pool of water that flows from the side of the rock, symbol of the Water of Life. It comes down to it by seven steps, seven deadly sins, the reality of fallen man, down to the bedrock, which is Christ. In the waters of the pool is buried the man of sin, died in the death of Christ, hence the black stone broken by the Cross of Christ and resurrected with Christ to eternal life as a new creature coming out of the living waters to climb the seven steps, symbolic of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we have to break the Eighth Day, whose anticipation and foreboding is the Eucharist.
Such were the baptistery of the first centuries of the history of the Church, in which baptism is administered by immersion, which received all the ritual expression of death-resurrection. This was administered in the parish on the night of the Easter Vigil. And as faith, that Baptism starts to give us eternal life, comes from the Word of God, in the baptistery, surrounding the pool, are present the four evangelists, gospel voice, announcing the Good News.
In the center of the temple is the Eucharistic table, as wide as all surprised when they visit for the first time La Paloma. This underlines the sign and is present to the faithful who are all sitting around a table, celebrating and sharing the same food and the same drink, according to the Lord's command. So the faithful understand that they are having a party, the Lord's Supper, and that we can only be integrated together as much as possible at this event, in common-union.
Beyond stands the chair of the Word of God. The parish is "receiving community, lives and proclaims the Word of God." The Church gives us the Word, who is present, current and operational, whenever proclaimed, responding to the needs of today and each of those who listen. The Word of God has always introduces the Eucharist and the other sacraments. Word comes by faith. The Word is powerful to transform the lives of those who create it. So, the first commandment of the chosen people begins imperiously: "Hear O Israel":
